Internal Medicine

This patient’s Diarrhea is caused by improper diet, more than 10 times a day without taking foods. The diarrhea is relieved after treatment, and then has recurrent attacks. The diarrhea is relieved by taking sulfamethoxazole tablets, and breaks out for more than 2 years. Doctors’ treatments are relieving diarrhea, or strengthening spleen, arresting discharge, taking both western medicine and Chinese herbs. Diarrhea gets better but abdominal distension and pain goes as before. The syndromes at that time are 3~5 times stools, mixing with mucus, abdominal distension and pain, relieving pain after defecation, poor appetite, averse to coldness, fatigue, pale tongue, sticky and white tongue coating, thread and hesitant pulse.


It is food stagnation in intestine and stomach, deficiency of spleen yang, disorder of transportation and transformation. It is better to clear the fu organs and lower triple energizer, warm and strengthen spleen yang. Prescriptions: Da Huang 12g, Zhi Shi 10g, Pao Jiang 6g, Chao Mai Ya 20g, and Gan Cao 6g. 2 doses, be decocted, one dose a day. After taking herbs, the mucus get more, mixed with 4~5 pieces masses, distension and pain of abdominal are relieved. Add 15 g of Bai Zhu in the prescription above, and take 3 more doses, then distension and pain of abdominal are gone, stools are twice a day, mixing with few mucus, and diet gets better. Modify the prescription above, and take it for 5 days, then all the syndromes are gone.
