Type 1:
Symptoms:
Sound became hoarse suddenly.Cases with coughing and itching of throat, thin phlegm, nasal obstruction and running nose, no thirst, whitish fur, floating pulse signify affection by exopathogen. Cases with chronic disease history, hoarseness being from mild to severe, emaciation, dry throat and mouth, tidal fever and night sweating, dry coughing, palpitation, tinnitus, reddened tongue and little fur, thready and rapid pulse signify enddogenous injury.
Principle of treatment:
Points of Hand-Taiyin, Hand-Yangming, Foot-Shaoyin Meridians are selected. New cases are treated by reducing method. Old cases are treated by reinforcing method.

Modification according to symptoms:
For sore throat Erjian (LI2) Ying-Spring Point (Erjian (LI2) Ying-Spring Point) is added; for fever, Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point (Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point) is added; for fever of deficiency type, Zhaohai (KI6) The Eihgt Confluent Point (Zhaohai (KI6) The Eihgt Confluent Point) is added; for aversion to cold, Zhigou (TE6) (SJ6) is added; for irritability, Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point (Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) is added; for sudden syncope, Tongli (HT5) Luo-Connecting Point (Tongli (HT5) Luo-Connecting Point) is added.
Cautions and precautions:
Aphonia used to be a sign of laryngocarcinoma.Patients with a long course of disease or inefficacy by acupuncture should go to department of eye, ear,nose and throat to have them examined and diagnosed or opportunity of treatment will be missed.
