Infectious Diseases

Type 1:
Symptoms:
At the beginning of the disease, manifestations include coughing, tiredness,poor appetite,loss of body weight,sputum with accidental blood streaks. Then symptoms are exacerbated with coughing and hemoptysis, flushing of zygomatic region and tidal fever, night sweat and sleeplessness, chest pain, emaciation, seminal emission, amenia, deep-red tongue with little fur, thready and frequent pulse.As condition getting serious, mass hemoptysis occurrs, shrug due to dyspnea, cyanotic lips and tongue, marked emaciation, puffy lower limbs, loss of appetite and loose stool are accompanied.
Principle of treatment:
Points of Hand-Taiyin , Foot-Taiyin and Foot-Shaoyang Meridians are selected mainly. Points on back are supplementary. For hyperfunction of Yang due to Yin deficiency, acupuncture is applied. For deficiency of Yin moxibustion is applied.
Prescription:
Taiyuan (LU9)Shu-Stream Point, Yuan-Source Point (Taiyuan (LU9)Shu-Stream Point, Yuan-Source Point),Feishu (BL13) (Feishu (BL13)), Gaohuang (BL43) (Gaohuang (BL43)), Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point), Sanyinjiao (SP6) (Sanyinjiao (SP6)), Taixi(KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point (Taixi(KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point)
Modification according to symptoms:
For cough and profused phlegm, Chize (LU5)He-Sea Point (Chize (LU5)He-Sea Point) is added. For tidal fever Yuji (LU10) Ying-Spring Point (Yuji (LU10) Ying-Spring Point) is added. For hemoptysis, Kongzui (LU6)Xi-Cleft Point (Kongzui (LU6)Xi-Cleft Point) is added. For nihgt sweat, Yinxi (HT6) Xi-Cleft Point (Yinxi (HT6) Xi-Cleft Point) is added. For hoarseness, Zhaohai (KI6) The Eihgt Confluent Point (Zhaohai (KI6) The Eihgt Confluent Point) is added. For seminal emission, Zhishi (BL52) (Zhishi (BL52)) is added. For amenia, Xuehai (SP10) (Xuehai (SP10)) is added. For cold limbs moxibustion is applied to Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine (RN4).
Cautions and precautions:
Though acupuncture was fairly effective in consumptive lung disease, when antiphthisic drugs were applied, their effects would be mutually strengthened .
