Internal Medicine
There are 72 patients with viral myocarditis after diagnosis confirmation of western medicine, the average age is 35 years old, duration of disease is from 6 months to 5 years, main complains have palpitation, lassitude, fullness on the chest, intermittent or knotted pulse. Treatment principles are to nourish yin and clear heat. Prescription includes Tai Zishen, Bei Sha Shen, Dan Shen, Ku Shen with 20g to 30g each, Mai Dong and Zao Ren with 20g each, Chuan Xiong 10g to 15g, Gan Cao 30g.

Modification:

Qi and yin deficiency: we add herbs to nourish yin and tonify qi, benefit heart and stop palpitation such as Ren Shen, Wu Wei Zi, Shan Yao, Bian Dou etc.

Heart and spleen deficiency: we add herbs to promote heart and spleen such as Huan Qi, Dang Shen, Bai Zhu, Fu Ling.

Yin deficiency and heart fire due to liver qi stagnation: we add herbs to nourish yin and soften liver such as Sheng Di, Bai He, Chai Hu, Bai Shao, Bo He, Yu Jin.

Phlegm retention: we add herbs to eliminate phlegm such as Huang Qin, Ban Xia, Shi Changpu, Yuan Zhi, Dan Pi, Zhi Mu, Yi Mucao, Dang Gui.

Total effective rate is 70%.
