Clinical Observation and Experimental Study on 150 Cases of Migraine Treated by AcupuncturePosted by: admin on Mar 08, 2008 - 04:38 AMThe author treated the 150 cases of migraine by needling Yifeng (TE17), and did experimental study to observe the patients' rheoencephalogram change in early, middle and later stage of needling. The prescription: TE17 on both sides. The technique: After doing routine sterilization on acupoints, insert a needle between the gonial angle and temporal apophysis for 1.5-2 inches in the direction of the contralateral temporal apophysis with right hand; apply less lifting and more twirling basic technique. The patients should have obviously sore, numb, heavy and full senses, and most of them feel that the needling senses radiate to the throat or the tongue root. It shows the proper needling depth and angle. Retain the needle for 20 minutes and do needle transmission twice in the meantime. Clinical Results: The total effective rate is 97.33% Experimental Results: 1. In normal group and patient group, compare the numerical values of rheoencephalogram change in early, middle, later stage of needling. It suggests that the blood vessel of brain get dilate during the headache fits. 2. After needling at TE17, the numerical values of normal group doesn't change, while the numerical values of patient group change accordingly, especially the amplitude is more evident. Besides, in the experiment, we also observe that when the patients suffer from severe headache, the amplitude increase obviously, and both sides of amplitudes are asymmetrical, some of which is greater than 38%; after needling at TE17, the headache is relieved, the amplitude reduces then tends to normal, and the both sides of amplitudes turns to symmetrical. A few patients’ amplitude reduces when attack to headache and then increases obviously after needling. This result indicates that TE17 has good bidirectional regulation.
