Hebitual constipation is the common clinical disease. we treated 53 cases of this disease by ear acupuncture. The prescriptions: Large Intestine, Rectum, Abdomen, and Middle cymba conchae. The secondary points for weakness due to chronic disease, aged patients or post partum are Spleen, Stomach, Endocrine and Subcortex and apply pressing with tender technique; The secondary points for excess symptoms are Lung, Triple energizer and apply pressing with forceful technique. Press the chinese herbs, semen vaccariae on the most sensitive spots after finding out them in the ear acupoints with prod. Both ears are treated at a time.
Results: The total effective rate is 90%. 53 cases of constipation are caused by other diseases and the constipation is relieved by ear acupuncture therapy. In general, bowels are open and the stools turns to strip from spheroid after one time ear acupoints plastering and pressing. The defecation is getting large quantity and regular by the treatment of ear acupuncture. The curative effect is not closely related with age and disease course, but related with differentiation and technique. For instant, regulate Spleen, Stomach, Subcortex and Endocrine to strengthening spleen, tonify qi and promote the gastrointestinal peristalsis function for the patients who are aged and weak, or post partum. Secondly, the therapy with Large Intestine and Abdomen is much more effective than the therapy with Large Intestine only; and press the ear acupoints with tender technique that patients only has oppressed feeling on it. The Rectum is commonly applied to Diarrhea and rarely applied to constipation. However, the clinical experience of the author shows that the Rectum, Large Intestine and Colon are effective to constipation.
